Ontario's Liberals say strong measures need to be taken to end demonstrations in Ottawa.

The province's Liberal Leader is calling on Premier Doug Ford to send a message to demonstrators in Ottawa, "leave now, or risk losing your truck."

"The residents of Ottawa are victims of a dangerous antivax mob holding their city hostage," stated Ontario Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca. "It has gone far beyond what can be considered a protest and the occupation must be dealt with using strong action."

He is also urging the province to pass a bill introduced by Ottawa South MPP John Fraser to create safe zones around schools and hospitals, as well as force organizers to cough up money for extra policing costs incurred during the occupation.

For over a week, demonstrators have been in the nation's capital to call for an end to COVID-19 public health restrictions.
