LCHS Looking for Help Covering Cost of Surgery For Cat Shot in Face

Police investigating as well

The Lincoln County Humane Society is looking for donations to help cover the cost of surgery for a cat found injured in a Grimsby neighbourhood.

The LCHS says the resident turned it over to the shelter to care for after it began limping.

An x-ray discovered a .177 calibre pellet lodged behind the cat's eye and a small almost healed gunshot wound on his face.

"Curtis" was taken to an animal clinic for surgery which involved removing his eye.

The surgery was successful and LCHS Executive Director Kevin Strooband says Curtis is thriving now and has turned into an "incredibly affectionate cat."

The cost of surgery was over $2,000.

Donations can be online at www.lchs.ca, emailed to donations@lchs.ca mailed or dropped off, at the shelter’s 4th Avenue location.

The animal cruelty case is with the Niagara Regional Police Service and anyone with information is encouraged to call NRPS at 905-688-4111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

If his owner is not found, Curtis will be put up for adoption.
