Integrity Commissioner Asked to Include Ford's Personal Cell Phone as Part of Greenbelt Probe

NDP Leader Marit Stiles is asking the Integrity Commissioner to investigate whether Doug Ford violated the Freedom of Information Act

The Ontario NDP is asking the province's Integrity Commissioner to expand the Greenbelt investigation to include Premier Doug Ford's personal cell phone.

Party leader Marit Stiles has written to the commissioner, asking him to look into claims that the Premier didn't use his government-issued phone for at least a week in November.

"The Premier was not using his government-issued phone for at least a full week in November 2022, raising concerns that he is using a personal phone intentionally to avoid accountability through the Freedom of Information process."

This comes after Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk released a report indicating the province's plans to develop housing on the Greenbelt was biased towards certain developers.

In response, the province says it's creating a working group to implement recommendations from the report.

The NDP is also asking the integrity commissioner to look into communications between Ford and Housing Minister Steve Clark.
