Biden Impeachment Inquiry Pursued

President accused of profiting off of son's foreign business deals

A top U.S. Republican is calling for an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says the inquiry would concentrate on  "allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption" by the President.

Republicans have been investigating Biden since January.

While no concrete evidence of misconduct has been found, the hearings have shed some light on business dealings by his son Hunter Biden.

Hunter Biden is being investigated by federal authorities on tax charges related to foreign business interests.

McCarthy says the president's family has received special treatment from the Biden administration, and there are "serious and credible allegations" into the president's conduct.

If a vote is held in the House of Representatives, that could be followed by a Senate trial.

White House spokesperson Ian Sams has responded, saying this is "extreme politics at its worst."
