Horwath Holds LTC Roundtable Discussion in Niagara

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is calling on the Ford Government to improve Ontario's long-term care system.

She held a roundtable discussion on the matter in St. Catharines yesterday where she spoke with local frontline workers.

"Those PSWs should be getting full time work and they should be getting paid decent wages so their jobs are good jobs that feed their families so they don't need to jump from one facility to the next."

Horwath says residents should receive a minimum of four hours of hands on care each day.

She also says our province needs a recruitment and retention strategy in order to hire and train more personal support workers.

Her party would like to see a transparent public inquiry into long-term care system and its COVID-19 outbreaks.
