Heat Warning Remains in Effect for Niagara

Cooling Centres, splash pads and pools available to beat the heat

A heat warning remains in effect for Niagara and for most parts of Ontario.  

Environment Canada warning of hot temperatures again today, with the humidex it'll feel like 42 degrees today. 

The heat is expected to continue tomorrow, but cooler temperatures are expected on Friday. 

The City of Niagara Falls reminding residents that local splash pads and city operated pools are open.  

They also have a list of indoor cooling stations available to anyone seeking relief from the extreme heat.  

Weather officials reminding people to stay hydrated during heat events and be on the lookout for heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or exhaustion. 

You're also advised to stay hydrated, and to never leave pets or people inside a parked car.

If you want to head to the beach to beat the heat, the Niagara Region only has a couple beaches posted as unsafe for swimming.

The following City of Niagara Falls facilities are available to anyone seeking relief from extreme heat during operating hours:

City Hall - 4310 Queen Street
Open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Gale Centre - 5152 Thorold Stone Road
Open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

MacBain Community Centre - 7150 Montrose Road
Open Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
For a small fee, residents can cool off at the indoor pool during open lane and leisure swim times. View swim schedule.

Niagara Falls History Museum - 5810 Ferry Street
Open Tuesday, Wednesday 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m., Thursday 10:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m., Friday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
