Player from Brampton was only 27

In a statement, the Canadian Elite Basketball League says Kenny Ejim was playing with Al-Najma in the Bahraini Premier League at the time of his death.

Ejim played for the CEBL's Hamilton Honey Badgers last season and with the Saskatchewan Rattlers in 2020.

No word on the cause of death.

His family has asked for privacy at this time.

The following is a statement from the Honey Badgers:

The Hamilton Honey Badgers organization is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kenny Ejim, a valued member of our team during the 2021 season and a friend to many in the Canadian basketball community.

Kenny brought a high level of energy to our organization on and off the court, and he was an exceptional teammate. Kenny had a smile that could light up an arena. He invested in himself as a player and as a person, while always making time to lift up those around him. It is incomprehensible that such a bright, strong and driven young man would have his life end.

Our deepest condolences go out to Kenny’s brother Ryan who played for our team in 2019 and to all of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed and remembered with much love and respect.
