Four Arrested on Drug and Assault Charges

Police stopped an assault on an 18-year old man in St. Catharines

Four people from the Niagara region have been charged with numerous offences after an assault in St. Catharines.

Police were on patrol early Tuesday afternoon, when they watched a stabbing occur in the Court and North Street area.

They say three males got into a verbal argument with an 18-year old man, who was then physically assaulted and stabbed.

The three were arrested, and the victim sent to hospital with minor injuries.

Police then used a search warrant in the area of Catharine and Francis Street, where they found roughly $12,000 worth of suspected fentanyl.

They've charged 23-year old Ju-ron S. Fertilien of St. Catharines with assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, and a drug trafficking charge.  A 16-year old boy from St. Catharines faces the same charges, but also one for obstructing a peace officer.

Police also say a 17-year old boy from Thorold is charged with assault and drug trafficking.  And 49-year old Heather Twinn, also of St. Catharines, faces a drug trafficking charge.

The three involved in the fight were held in custody, pending a bail hearing last week, while Twinn was released with a future court date.
