Ford Says Plans to Develop on Greenbelt Will Proceed

Premier Doug Ford says allegations that developers were tipped off about development plans for the Greenbelt are false

Premier Doug Ford says his government won't stop plans to develop housing on Greenbelt land, despite a report from the province's auditor general.

Yesterday, auditor general Bonnie Lysyk released a report, claiming developers connected to Ryan Amato, Housing Minister Steve Clark's chief of staff, were favoured.

However, during a press briefing today, Ford said that is not the case.

Last year, the province announced plans to open up about 7,400 acres of Greenbelt land to make way for 50,000 new homes.

However, experts say the province can meet housing targets without the land.

Meanwhile, Ontario's integrity commissioner is considering a request from Ford to investigate Amato.
