Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Niagara Region

A heat warning is in effect for the Niagara Region.

Environment Canada says the alert is expected to last through Thursday, with cooler temperatures expected on Friday

Minimum temperatures will be in the high teens to low twenties with daytime humidex values in the high 30's or 40's.

The hot and humid air is expected to bring along the usual deteriorating air quality.

Weather officials reminding people to stay hydrated during heat events and be on the lookout for heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or exhaustion.

You're also advised to stay hydrated, and to never leave pets or people inside a parked car.

If you need relief from the heat, you can head over to the Gale Centre or the MacBain Community Centre.
