Detectives Investigating NOTL Hit and Run

Police seeking witnesses after cyclist was hit in Niagara-on-the-Lake

Police are asking for the public's help after a hit and run in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

During the evening of July 13th, a man in his 80s was hit by a pickup truck while riding his bike on East West Line at Concession Road 2.

The victim remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.

Authorities say the truck fled the area, turning onto Concession Road 2 (southbound).

It then went to York Road, turned west into St. David's and turned southbound onto Four Mile Creek Road, heading towards Niagara Falls.

Yesterday, police found a pewter coloured GMC Sierra pickup truck believed to be involved.

Investigators say the damaged areas had recently undergone repairs.

The driver has been identified, and detectives are asking local body shops or auto part recycling businesses to report any sales or work done on a 1999 GMC Sierra over the past week.

As well, residents and businesses in the area are asked to review any security footage taken between 7:30 and 8:30 on July 13th.

Tips can be phoned in to police at  905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009089.
