Ontario's Liberals say if elected on June 2nd, the party will reduce transit fares to $1 until 2024 across all transit systems in the province.
Ontario's Liberals are promising to slash transit fares if elected on June 2nd.
Leader Steven Del Duca says his government would reduce fares on every transit system in the province to just $1 or $40 for a monthly pass.
The party says if elected, there will be "immediate relief" on transit within the first 100 days in office, and the "buck-a-ride" program would be in effect until 2024.
Del Duca notes the pledge would take approximately 400,000 cars off the road every day and cost $1.1 billion next year.
They also promised to invest an additional $375 million in annual transit operating funding to support additional intercity connections, extend service hours and increase the amount of bus routes.
