Rally will take place tonight at the Holiday Inn on Ontario Street

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is in Niagara today.

He'll be holding a rally in St. Catharines this evening, and members of the public are welcome to attend.

We spoke to Poilievre, who says housing is one of the biggest issues not just here in Niagara, but throughout the country.

"We need to bring homes that local Niagara Region people can afford. After eight years of Trudeau, housing costs have doubled, rent prices have doubled, mortgage payments have doubled, down payments have doubled. Housing in Canada is almost double in price than what it is in the States."

He also says he plans to push the federal government to get rid of the carbon tax, which was created to encourage people and businesses to pollute less.

"We have to axe the carbon tax. Axe the tax to bring down gas, heat and grocery bills."

The rally will take place at 6:30 at the Holiday Inn on Ontario Street.
