West Lincoln, Lincoln and Grimsby councils meet to discuss Ford government's review of operations in the region

Three local municipalities have met to discuss the province's review into how the region's local government is operating.

A closed door meeting was held between councils from the the Town of Grimsby, the Town of Lincoln and the Township of West Lincoln.

The meeting took place yesterday and wasn't recorded, due to the sensitive nature of topics that were discussed.

This is the first time the three councils have joined forces in a meeting like this.

Currently, Niagara's upper-tier government is being assessed by a facilitator, who will determine whether the needs of residents are being met under the current model.

Previously, Premier Doug Ford has said Niagara has too many elected officials for its population, though this model is helping bring in more tourists and businesses.

The three municipalities say they will work together if the review suggests changes need to be made.

"It is a crucial occasion for our three municipalities to come together in the spirit of collaboration and shared purpose," stated Mayor Sandra Easton of the Town of Lincoln. "Our aim is to pool our resources and knowledge, align our visions, and drive positive change for the betterment of our residents."
