City of Thorold Condemning 'Stickers of Homophobic Nature'

The City of Thorold says homophobic stickers have been posted on numerous signs and surfaces

The City of Thorold is speaking out against acts of hatred that have taken place in the community.

Officials say this has involved putting homophobic stickers on various signs and surfaces.

Acting Mayor Carmen DeRose says she disappointed about this, as the City is committed to celebrating diversity and equality.

"As a 2SLGBTQQIA+ ally organization, the City is committed to celebrating inclusiveness, diversity and equality in our community. We strongly urge the individuals who are choosing to spread hateful messages to consider the impact of their actions before they act upon them."

CAO Manoj Dilwaria says stickers have been removed frequently after the City raised the Pride flag earlier this month.

Residents who spot stickers of this nature can contact the City at 905-227-6613 or email contact@thorold.ca.
