City of St. Catharines Waiving Certain Business License Fees

Some St. Catharines businesses are about to get a break from the City.

City council has approved the waiving of business license fees for some businesses this year.

The fees are being waived for theatres, restaurants, amusement arcades, auctioneers, food trucks, public halls and refreshment stands.

Mayor Walter Sendzik says that the move is meant to help local businesses that are struggling due to the pandemic.

"Council recognizes the challenges local businesses have experienced during the ongoing pandemic. Small businesses are vital to the backbone of our economy and this is just one of the few tools the City has to support them and try to reduce the financial burden."

The motion is expected to have a cost of about $92,000 on the City's budget.
