City of St. Catharines Seeking Feedback on Draft Aquatic Facilities Strategy

The City of St. Catharines has launched an online open house to gauge feedback on the draft of the Aquatic Facilities Strategy.

The draft points to an increased demand for aquatic facilities, due to a projected population growth of 13,000 residents over the next decade.

The draft contains three possible implementation strategies.

The balanced strategy would see the City investing between $25 million to $31 million for a new indoor aquatic facility at Lion Dunc Schooley Outdoor Pool.

This strategy would also see three more splash pads being built.

The refocused strategy would see the City closing all three of its outdoor pools while building a new indoor aquatics facility.

In the third strategy, the status quo strategy, the City would maintain its current inventory of outdoor pools and indoor aquatics facilities with no new facilities.

Residents have until February 23rd to provide input.
