Charges Laid After Crash in Niagara Falls

No serious injuries suffered after vehicle becomes partially submerged in Niagara River

A  man is facing several charges after a single vehicle collision in Niagara Falls.

Around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23rd, crews were called to a crash at Niagara River Parkway and Marshall Road. 

According to Niagara Parks Police, a red pickup truck was heading eastbound on Marshall Road and blew past a stop sign. 

It then crossed both lanes of the Niagara River Parkway and through the cable safety barrier, before becoming partially submerged in the Niagara River.

Both the driver and the passenger escaped serious injury, and were helped out of the truck by the Niagara Falls Fire Department. 

The 33 year old driver, who name has not been released, was charged with the following offences: 

  • Impaired operation of a conveyance contrary to section 320.14(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Impaired operation of a conveyance exceed BAC contrary to section 320.14(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Dangerous Operation contrary to section 320.13 (1) of the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Take motor vehicle without consent contrary to section 335 of the Criminal Code of Canada

He was also charged for driving without a license. 

Impaired driving kills more Canadians each year than any other crime.
