Charges Laid After Golf Cart Taken from St. Catharines Business

Suspect faces drug and theft-related charges

An arrest has been made after a golf cart was taken from a St. Catharines business.

Police received a call from the business yesterday morning, and pictures of the stolen cart were given to officers around the region.

Around 2:15 yesterday afternoon, officers received a call from a citizen who noticed the stolen golf cart being driven southbound on the canal path in Welland.

Shortly afterward, officers found the vehicle traveling southbound on the shoulder of Elm Street in Port Colborne.

Officers followed the cart to a home on Apollo Drive, but the driver refused to stop when ordered to by the officer.

The driver pulled over at Apollo Drive and Meadowlark Drive, then ran into a nearby field.

The officer caught him, and placed him under arrest.

A search of the suspect turned up a set of brass knuckles, a butterfly knife, and about 19.2 grams of suspected crystal meth.

Facing charges is 32 year old Houston James Boucher of St. Catharines.

He was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon (2 Counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance
  • Fail To Comply with Release Order (2 Counts)

Anyone with information relevant to the case is asked to call police at 950-688-4111, option 3, extension 1023200.
