We have shovels in the ground, for the new Canada Games Park in Thorold.
Several local dignitaries stopped by yesterday's ground breaking ceremony.
The speakers included Regional Chair Jim Bradley, St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik, Thorold Mayor Terry Ugulini, St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle, Niagara Centre MP Vance Badawey, Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff and Brock University Board of Trustees Chair Gary Comerford.
Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries Lisa MacLeod was also in attendance.
The new state of the art facility will include a twin-pad arena, a para-sport gymnasium and more.
It will be located at Brock University.
Aquicon Construction crews have begun construction on the site, ahead of the 2021 Canada Summer Games in Niagara.
