Bering Family Re-imagines Sugar Bush Experience in Wake of Pandemic

Trees have been tapped and the maple syrup sap is starting to flow

And although the annual Sugar Bush Trek at White Meadows Farms in St. Catharines is on hold this year because of the pandemic, the farm owners, the Bering Family, have come up with a unique alternative.

The Bering's write on the farm's Facebook page, "We are working hard at altering our Sugar Bush Tours to comply with the ever-changing government regulations. When we start will depend on what colour zone our region is in. As of right now, tours are not currently running. Things are very different and restricted this year but we are trying our very best to bring our maple experience to our guests!
At the moment we are offering the Sugarbush Campout Lunch on weekends.

The booking for March 27th and 28th will open on Saturday, March 20th.

The campout lunch starts with a wagon ride to the edge of the sugarbush, then you follow the groomed trails to a campsite where you get cozy blankets and a warm lunch.

And check out the menu, "Enjoy a mini-charcuterie featuring a selection of our gourmet Maple products, all four colours of maple syrup, Black River Maple Cheddar, crisp crackers, and a pickle.  Next cozy up with a warm bowl of your choice of Beef and Chocolate Stew, Turkey and Bacon Chili, or Maple Baked Beans, each paired with a fresh buttermilk biscuit from our friends at De la Terre Bakery, the perfect companion to dunk into your chili, stew or beans.  Finish your meal with the dessert of the day, Maple Apple Crisp or Maple Whisky Bread Pudding.  Your campout wouldn’t be complete without a toasty beverage to enjoy by the campfire; enjoy Maple Tea and Maple Hot Chocolate, or both! Your campout will be outfitted with a fresh pot of hot water and everything you need to make the perfect cup of Maple!"
