Announcement on Expanded Booster Shots Expected Today

Just one of several announcement expected today from the Ford Tories

The Globe and Mail says the Ford government will announce that people aged 50 and older will be eligible for a third dose starting mid month.

Alberta meantime will open up booster shots to anyone 18 and older beginning first with those 60 plus 

Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization is also preparing to announce new recommendations for anyone 50 and older to get a booster shot. 

The Globe says that announcement could come as early as tomorrow 

It's hoped by ramping up of booster shots, Canada will prevent new waves of COVID-19 from taking hold particularly in light of the threat from the Omicron variant. 

Current recommendations state booster shots can be given to anyone at least six months after their second dose.

Meantime, Attorney General Doug Downey and Sport and Tourism Minister Lisa MacLeod are scheduled to make an announcement about social and charitable gaming later this morning in Waterdown 

Economic Development Minister Vic Fedeli will make an announcement on the auto sector in Ontario at 10:00 and Long Term Care Minister Rod Phillips follows with his own media conference at 10:30.

Labour Minister Monte McNaughton kicks things off at 9:30 with an announcement about apprenticeship training,
