Air Canada Cutting 1700 Jobs

The company is blaming the cuts on increased travel restrictions put forth by the federal and provincial governments.

Air Canada claims that moves made by both levels of government have forced the airline to scale down operations by 25 percent.

Executive Vice President Amos Kazzaz says that the company regrets the impact the decision will have on affected employees and communities.

Starting January 23rd, Air Canada will no longer have flights going to Gander or Goose Bay in Newfoundland and Labrador or to Fredericton, New Brunswick.
