A First in Niagara to Help Financially Struggling Pet Owners

LCHS Community Fridge opens today

The fridge is located in the gazebo of the Lincoln County Humane Society's building on 4th Avenue in St. Catharines

It will be open from 7 am to 7 pm.

Shelter officials say those in need are welcome to take what they need, while community members are asked to donate what they can.

The LCHS is accepting monetary donations and donations of items for the fridge, which includes a pantry, such as produce, dry goods, commercially prepared foods, canned products and non-food items, such as: personal care and hygiene products.

The shelter says items such as left overs, opened goods and dented cans cannot be accepted.

The LCHS is also looking for volunteers to assist with the Community Fridge, helping to keep it clean, its inventory restocked, and expiry dates checked.

Funding for the fridge and room construction was provided by the St. Catharines Rotary Club, Grantham Lions Club, Merritton Lions Club and the St. David’s Lions Club.
