Vehicles towed for lack of insurance, no ignition interlock device

Police handed out 61 tickets as part of a safety blitz targeting commercial vehicles.

On April 20th, the Niagara Regional Police Service teamed up with Niagara Parks Police, the Hamilton Police Service, the Town of Lincoln and the Ministry of Transportation for a joint initiative.

Officers looked for commercial vehicles intentionally bypassing the QEW Vineland inspection station.

Over 50 vehicles were directed into the station, and 49 were inspected.

Officers issued 61 tickets for various infractions.

One vehicle was impounded after authorities discovered it didn't have an ignition interlock device.

The device is required for drivers who have been convicted of impaired driving.

Another vehicle was towed after authorities found it didn't have insurance coverage.
