The Special Investigations Unit will not be charging an NRP officer in relation to an arrest in Grimsby.
It happened in September 2018, after a local pub called Niagara Regional Police to report a drunk man who allegedly left the bar with the intention to drive.
An officer went out to the man's home and spoke with him before leaving.
A few hours later, the pub reached out to police again to say the man called and harassed staff members over the phone.
According to the SIU, the man walked out with a baseball bat when police arrived at his home once again. The officer threw him to the ground and he was diagnosed with a broken nose afterwards.
