Atlas Landfill Remediation Project Nearing Completion

A project that began in 2017 is nearing completion.

The Atlas Landfill Remediation Project was started by the City of Welland, Dillon Consulting and Niagara College.

The goal was to turn the retired landfill into an area available for public use.

The City is working on an end use plan, to decide what will happen once the site is capped.

The area is now known as Lookout Park. It has the potential to offer 360 degree views of the Welland Canal, Welland River and Niagara Falls.
