The Green Herons, out of St. Catharines, recognized in Yellowknife
A number of Niagara youth have made their families proud for their work with the environment and helping the homeless.
12-year old Patrick Watt is with St. Catharines based Green Herons, a group that just won an award in Yellowknife.
He says the group raised $1,800 and bought some food and clothes. "So, we went into an empty parking lot, which was next to a homeless shelter. We set up some tables, and basically chatted with them, and gave them free coffee and such. A lot of them are really nice, and super grateful."
He says they always do cleanups, but also work to protect butterflies and turtles.
They were nominated for the award, in part, by Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority.
