With Kids Heading Back to Class, New Rules on When Parents Will be Notified About Outbreaks

Ford government confirming parents will no longer be notified of each case of COVID in child's school

Instead the government announcing it will provide parents with absentee rate numbers.

As well, when student and staff absenteeism in a school reaches approximately 30 per cent, it will trigger the principal to notify local health officials.

At that time a joint letter from the local medical officer of health and the principal will be sent out to the school community.

The province says it will then be decided whether to close a school or classroom.

The province also announcing yesterday it will provide two rapid antigen tests for students and staff in public elementary and secondary schools, along with children and staff in child care settings when in class learning resumes on Monday.
