City says homeowners responsible for maintaining sidewalks adjacent to their property.
The City of Welland is asking residents to help slear snow on sidewalks.
Officials are reminding homeowners that they are responsible for removing snow from sidewalks adjacent to their property.
The City says during the recent snowfall, its sidewalk plows required additional apparatuses, resulting in a delay to service.
Heavy snowfall can also make it difficult to maintain sidewalks as well as residential driveways.
According to City By-law 2008-185, homeowners must remove fallen snow and ice from the public sidewalk adjacent to their property no more than 24 hours after a substantial snowfall or precipitation event, or the end of a series or consecutive snowfalls or precipitation.
Residents are also asked to keep areas around fire hydrants clear.
