The City of Welland had decided to ease some of its COVID-19 restrictions so you can enjoy the beautiful weather outside.
The following areas are now open for passive use;
- All city parks including the dog park
- Welland BMX and Skate Park
- River Road Boat Launch
- Canal Lands Trails
- Lincoln St. Docks
All city-owned playground equipment, pools, splash pads, sports fields and washrooms will remain closed for the time being.
If you decide to pay a visit to the dog park, please note that no more than five people will be allowed in the large dog area with their dogs and no more than three people will be allowed in the small dog area.
The City is encouraging everyone to practise physical distancing and wear a face mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The province's ban on all public gatherings of more than five people remains in effect.
The city has also received complaints regarding the length of the grass in local parks, cemeteries and sports fields.
The city had to lay off several employees due to the financial impacts of the pandemic.
