Welland Mayor Frank Campion is wishing everyone a safe and happy Civic Holiday long weekend.
He says Welland residents have done a great job in preventing the spread of COVID-19 so far, but we can't let our guard down.
"We must continue to act responsibly to make certain we are taking precautions to stop the spread of COVID-19. I remind you to please continue to comply with the guidelines of physical distancing, frequent hand washing, wearing a mask or face covering when required, staying home if displaying symptoms or having been in close contact with cases of COVID-19."
The Region's mandatory mask bylaw went into effect yesterday.
It applies to enclosed public spaces including stores, restaurants, movie theatres, hotel lobbies and places of worship.
