The Budget Review Committee is considering several proposals that could affect infrastructure in Welland.
Some of the items being considered include $8.2 million for sanitary sewer replacements and infrastructure renewal and $1.6 million for sidewalk replacement improvements.
The committee is also thinking about setting aside $2.1 million for road resurfacing and $2.75 million for a multi-purpose outdoor facility.
Additionally, the Budget Review Committee is also considering the following changes to water/wastewater rates for residents and businesses;
- A $37.00 annual increase for low residential (annual consumption of 75 cubic meters or less per year)
- A $2.00 annual increase for average residential (annual consumption of less than 180 cubic meters per year)
- Increasing the low-income water/wastewater rebate program to $340
- A decrease in the annual bill for commercial and industrial accounts
