Wife of celebrity businessman charged after fatal boat crash
A verdict is expected today in the trial of Linda O'Leary the wife of celebrity businessman Kevin O'Leary.
She was driving a boat that collided with another vessel two years ago on Lake Joseph.
Two people died in the evening crash, and three others were injured.
She has pleaded not guilty to one charge of careless operation of a vessel under the Canada Shipping Act.
The operator of the other boat, Richard Ruh, an Orchard Park, New York businessman, was convicted in absentia last September of failing to exhibit a navigation light.
He had originally said he would fight the charge but his lawyer later said Ruh chose not to contest the matter to avoid having to revisit the trauma everybody experienced that night.
The two people killed were on Ruh's boat.
