The U.S. Attorney's Office says the 1996 Ferrari F50 was being transported from Canada into the U.S. on December 14th, 2019 when it was seized.
The high end car worth nearly $2 million dollars was taken into custody after customs officers noticed some of the rivets on the VIN were covered in a black tar.
A hold was placed on the vehicle and that's when officials determined it had been stolen in Italy in 2003.
Now the U.S. Attorney's Office says "after an 18-year odyssey, which we know took it across continents and countries, we have decided that the time has come for a court of law to determine the rightful owner of the vehicle."
Since its seizure two years ago multiple parties have claimed ownership.
