Two Young Suspects Charged After Foot Chase

NRP say it started with argument in Welland home, $150,000 in fentanyl later found

A 20-year old St. Catharines man, and young offender, each face a long list of drug and weapon charges, after a brief standoff with police.

It all started Saturday, when police were called to a home in the Rice and Woodlawn Road area of Welland, to find two suspects got into an argument with another person, resulting in threats made and a gun shown.

Yesterday, police saw one of the suspects in St. Catharines, followed him to a home on Melody Lane in Welland, where police closed in.

Soon after, police chased both suspects and caught them.

The next day police searched the house and found:

  • A loaded GSG 16 MP 5 Sub Machine Gun
  • $24,685 in Canadian Currency
  • 776.9 grams of suspected fentanyl (Value: $150,000.00)
  • Brass knuckles
  • Bear mace

Police say 20-year old Isaac Lucas is charged with: 

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Uttering Threats
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm without Holding a License
  • Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possess Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowingly Not Holding a License
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

A young offender, under 18-years old, is also charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
  • Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm without Holding a License
  • Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possess Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowingly Not Holding a License
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Mischief Under $5000

Both had bail hearings today, but remain behind bars.
