And a first for Canada at an Olympics

Canada’s Maude Charron has won gold in the women’s weightlifting 64-kilogram category, for our fourth medal today.

Also this morning, Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard won our second judo medal with a bronze in the women's under 63 kg competition.

Canada has won its first every medal in softball at the Olympics.

Kelsey Harshman drove in the go ahead run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning as the Canadians beat Mexico 3-2 for bronze at the Tokyo Games.

Earlier, Canada's Kylie Masse captured silver in the women's 100-metre backstroke.

Our Olympic medal count in Tokyo now stands at eight.
