The former president may surrender early next week, on charges related to hush money payments to porn star
The drama that is US politics now includes the indictment of former president Donald Trump, by a Manhattan grand jury.
It voted to indict him on charges related to hush money payments made on his behalf during his 2016 presidential campaign to porn star Stormy Daniels.
The Manhattan District Attorney's Office says prosecutors have reached out to Trump's lawyers to arrange for him to surrender, which could happen early next week.
Police in New York issued an all-hands-on-deck notice in anticipation of possible protests.
