Provinces demanding changes to bail system following death of OPP officer
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the federal government is looking into the issue of bail reform.
On Friday, the country's premiers sent a letter to Trudeau, calling for changes to Canada's bail system.
The letter was initiated by Premier Doug Ford's office, after OPP officer Greg Pierzchala was shot and killed in December.
One of the suspects was previously denied bail in an assault case, but was later released.
Trudeau says he understands there is a lot of concern about the issue, and challenges impacting minority groups need to be taken into account.
