A 17-year old stabbed to death out west
Not only are police in Toronto dealing with violence on the transit system, but it's also happening in western Canada.
There's been a pair of serious stabbings over a 2-week period, and the last left a 17-year old boy dead.
R-C-M-P and Metro Vancouver Transit Police say they will increase patrols at transit hubs and other related sites for an indefinite period.
Surrey R-C-M-P said yesterday that while overall crime in Surrey is down 14% this year, incidents like the fatal stabbing can create fear in the community.
Both Vancouver and Toronto have reported a series of knife attacks on public transit.
In Toronto, a 16-year-old was fatally stabbed in an apparently unprovoked attack at a subway station last month, a woman was killed in a subway train stabbing in December, and another woman was stabbed in the head on a streetcar in January.
