In order to assist local businesses during the pandemic, the Town of Fort Erie will temporarily waive all business license fees.
There are a few exceptions, including for short-term rentals, new businesses and businesses that require an annual license.
It is estimated that waiving business licensing fees for this year will produce a revenue reduction around the $20,000 mark.
The Town plans to recoup the loss through money received in Phase 1 of the Canadian government's Safe Restart Agreement.
