The Toronto WNBA franchise will begin play in 2026.
TORONTO - It's official, a WNBA franchise is coming to Toronto.
It will be the 14th franchise for the Women's National Basketball Association and the first outside the United States.
It's going to be owned by Kilmer Sports Ventures, which is led by Toronto businessman Larry Tanenbaum. He is also the chairman and a minority owner of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.
The expansion team will begin play in 2026 out of Coca-Cola Coliseum and more details will be revealed in a press conference this morning.
