According St. Catharines Fire Services, a Haig Street landlord will have to pay $2,000 for not maintaining smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
The tenant will also have to pay $1,000 for failing to notify the landlord as soon as possible.
A Niagara Street retirement home is facing a $2,000 fine for not installing an automatic sprinkler system.
A business owner will have to pay $2,500 for failing to inspect emergency lightning and fire extinguishers. Officials say they also failed to maintain exhaust and fire protection systems.
