
Thorold students put into 'Hold & Protect' by NRP on 1st day of school after wanted persons investigation in the vicinity.
On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) Uniform Patrol, the Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit, and the Street Crime Unit (SCU) were engaged in a wanted person investigation in Thorold.
During the investigation, the NRPS K9 Unit was deployed to assist in tracking and locating the wanted individual. The track led officers into the vicinity of a local school. Out of an abundance of caution, the school was immediately notified and placed into a “Hold and Secure” status to ensure the safety of students and staff.
