Police say the 15-year old Catharines boy was already arrested for an unrelated investigation
Police have charged a 15-year old St. Catharines boy in relation to vandalism of vehicles in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
They say a number of parked cars in residential neighbourhoods were damaged in late December.
Once police determined who they were looking for, they found the boy had already been arrested New Year's Eve morning, for an unrelated investigation of failing to comply with a release order.
On New Year's Day, police say they searched the St. Catharines home where he lives, finding evidence related to the vandalism.
They also found a pickup truck used in the vandalism, which had been stolen from Niagara on December 22nd.
The suspect has a bail hearing today, charged with:
- Mischief Under $5000 (25 Counts)
- Use Credit Card Not Authorized (2 Counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (Stolen Vehicle)
- Fail to Comply with a Release Order
Police say initial damage estimates are over $40,000.
