The Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association says the latest round of talks with the government were not productive.
The union is waiting to hear from a mediator to see if further talks would be worthwhile.
They will also consider options for further strike action.
Catholic schools in Niagara were supposed to be hit by a rotating strike on Monday, before the union called off strike action because it was going back to the bargaining table.
Meanwhile, public elementary students in Niagara will be in class until at least March 6th.
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario says if a deal isn't reached by then, a new phase of strike action will begin on March 9th.
