Elementary teachers in Ontario will start voting today on whether to give the union a strike mandate.
Votes will take place until October 17th.
The ETFO has filed for conciliation, saying the bargaining pace has been slow.
However, it has rejected a proposal from the government to leave outstanding issues to an arbitrator.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce is urging teacher's unions to reach a deal similar to the Ontario Secondary School Teacher's Federation.
That union has agreed to continue bargaining talks until October, then move to binding arbitration.
