Canada's chief medical officer forecasting surge in COVID-19, RSV and flu cases over the next few weeks.
Canada's top doctor is encouraging the public to wear a mask indoors.
Dr. Theresa Tam says in the coming weeks, multiple layers of personal protection will be needed as cases of COVID-19, RSV and influenza continue to rise.
She says taking precautions such as wearing a mask and making sure you are up to date on your COVID-19 and flu shots will ease pressures on hospitals.
"Although no individual layer of protection is perfect, when used consistently and together, vaccine plus layers can provide excellent protection against COVID-19 as well as other infectious diseases we may encounter," Tam said.
You're also advised to maintain good hand hygiene.
A recent Nanos Research poll suggests about 70 percent of Canadians support the return of mask mandates, if recommended by public health officials.
