An upbeat report from the City of St. Catharines concerning the amount of grants it received last year.
The city says over $30-million came in from the federal and provincial governments, as well as private sources.
Last year the city applied for almost $112-million, and is currently waiting on grant applications totaling over $11.5-million.
Of the funding applications, over $867,000 for the Next Generation 911 call system was received, and over $445,000 for a sewer control system.
Director of Financial Management Services Kristine Douglas points out the money helps with new programs, enhance existing services, and off-sets other programs originally funded by taxes.
She adds it plays a crucial role in the budget, and is committed to exploring other grants.
