Jennie Stevens hoping for action on bill first tabled three years ago
The NDP MPP for St. Catharines is once again trying to get the Ford government to prioritize veterans for long term care beds.
Jennie Stevens re-tabled her bill yesterday in an effort to honour the sacrifices veterans have made by ensuring they get timely access to long term care services as they age.
Stevens says all parties supported the bill three years ago when she first introduced it, but since then the Ford Tories have refused to move it forward.
Stevens and Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates noting had this bill been passed, it would have helped a 106 year old veteran in Fort Erie.
Burd Sisler has been waiting months to get a long term care bed in the town.
